The title stayed. The ache didn't move.

I sat across from that interview panel for the tenth time in twenty years.

Tenth time.

When they told me no again, something shifted deep inside me.

Something I cannot fully explain, except to say this: they did not see my value. But I knew my worth.

I heard it as clearly as I have ever heard anything in my life, the words of Jamie Kern Lima: "Rejection is God's protection." He has a bigger and better door for me.

So I made a decision that most people would call crazy. I stayed two more years. Not because I was afraid. Because I was strategic. I waited until I was fully eligible for retirement, my full pension secured, my insurance benefits intact. I was not going to leave anything on the table that I had already earned.

Then I decided.

I wrote my resignation letter. I walked away from 23 years of dedicated federal service, a paycheck that never missed, and the only identity I had ever known.

I did it before my husband fully understood why. Before anyone gave me permission. Before I had a single guarantee of what came next.

I walked out with nothing but unwavering faith and a conviction so certain it silenced every fear that tried to stop me. The cost of staying was greater than the cost of choosing myself.

I want my children to look at their mother and know without a shadow of a doubt that they can do it too. That they can be, do, and have anything they want in this life. That they never have to settle for a life that no longer serves them because their mother refused to.

More than anything, I never want them to look back on their own lives one day and say: I was too scared to live so I stayed where it was safe and comfortable because it was all I knew. They will never be able to say that. Not while they are watching me.

I have not looked back once.

I tell you this not to impress you. I tell you this to look you in the eye and say: I know exactly where you are standing right now. I know the weight of it. I know the fear of it. I know the quiet grief of a life that looks right on the outside and feels wrong on the inside.

I also know what is waiting for you on the other side of the door you keep almost walking through.

I also know you don't have to have your resignation letter written to start this work. You don't have to know your exit date yet. You only have to be honest about the pattern you've been living inside.

The only question is this: will you find out who you are beneath the title while you still have the choice, or will you look back years from now with nothing but regret for the years you spent waiting to ask?
